The ninth Japanese set of the Scarlet & Violet era has been officially announced: Battle Partners (Japanese: バトルパートナーズ)! The set will be released in Japan on January 24, 2025. The announcement was made on December 21, 2024, during the Osaka Champion's League 2025. We have gathered the first information for you and will give you a first look at this exciting new set.

A first look at the Trainers and their Partner Pokémon

As the name suggests, this set revolves around the partnership between Trainers and their Pokémon. The set brings back the Trainer's Pokémon game mechanic (originally known as Owner's Pokémon), first introduced with the Gym Heroes expansion. These cards represent Pokémon that belong to a specific Trainer and highlight their identity through the Trainer's name in the card name (e.g., Lillie's Clefairy). The Pokémon often possess unique abilities or attacks that synergize perfectly with their Trainer. This promotes themes such as teamwork and personalized deck strategies in the game—a highlight for collectors and players alike.

The booster pack artwork features Trainers and their Partner Pokémon such as N & Zoroark, Lillie & Clefairy, Hop & Zacian, and Iono & Bellibolt.
